Founder & Teacher

Coming from "Dushi" Curacao

Energetic and driven, Alex picked up salsa in 2009 in his home island of Curacao and after years of classes from multiple international teachers; eventually started teaching private classes to salsa dancers eager to improve for free.

Alex founded LatinSpice initially for events management, but expanded into providing course structured classes and focusing on smaller groups.

Alex has lived in The Netherlands, Germany, the UK and is also a musician.

Side note: Curacao is an island located off the coast of Curacao. "Dushi" is a word taken from its native language which can mean anything from sweet, tasty to sweetheart

Marta started dancing at the age of 10. From her native Poland she has a background in ballet. She also performed Polish folk and national dances at various festivals around the world. Before moving to Ireland she completed her diploma as a cultural animator in dance specialization.
She started dancing salsa in Ireland in 2009, becoming soon very passionate about this form of dance and joining various performing groups. She is always excited about her adventure of spreading salsa love around Ireland and getting more and more people 'infected'.

Introducing our friends from the Bailamar Academy

Maria has more than 25 years of dance experience and over 15 years of dance teaching.

She has been working in various dance styles from classical dance to urban club dancing.

In 2008 together with Alexander she was involved into Latin American dances, such as salsa, bachata and merengue.

This passion brought them to the Dominican Republic in 2012.

They fell in love with this country and stayed there for a long time to explore bachata.

Later on they formed their own vision of teaching bachata and started to organise regular BailaMar Bachata Camps in Dominican Republic in cooperation with Dominican dance instructors.
